I want advise please

I have a 4x2x2 tank with Co2 bottle injection. I want to change my substaite for plant groth or quality tabs for the gravel. The gravel is 3mm Black. The plants grow but it seems it takes longer than i expected. Can i have what kind of substaite i should i use?

Eco Complete, ADA, Dupla Ground, River sand with peat underneath, take your pick, they're all good dirt

if budget is no problem the substrate thats given me the best results is red sea flora base, closely followed by eco complete.

as for root ferts, florish tabs are great but for macros I've been making my own clay balls.
