HI
I read somewhere you can use kitty litter for the bottom of a tank is this true ? and if it is true any details ?

watch out in a tank that gets a lot of water changes and deep gravel vacs as it has a tendancy to enter the water column and cloud up the tank for an hour or so.

i dont know- most cat litter sand contains deodorizers, anti-fungi chemicals etc. some are not even actual sand at all (hence the clumping when wet)

theres a few out (hte cheeper stuff) that re free of all that, it has been done and does work, i just wouldn't use it in a high maintenance tank.
