Ordering a new 7ft tank for the discus. It will be a planted tank. Without taking into account the substrate, driftwood & plants, the tank has 523L capacity, so capacity in reality will be a bit less.

Ages ago I bought the filter (Eheim Pro II 2028), which was maybe a bit of an overkill for the 3ft tank I was planning at the time, but tank size has been upgraded. According to the filter specs, it still should be fine for 600L.

I'll be running a UV & planned to run it off the Pro 11 2028, but am I pushing it?

Should I think about getting this http://www.aquariumsuppliesaustralia.com.au/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=3167 & run the UV off it, thereby additing a little extra filtration to the tank?

a 2028 will max out at around a 300-400L tank.

on yours I'd go 2, one at each end.

i uv will be planty, and a 2028 will be good for an 18w+ uv unit

I have a spare Eheim 2224, will that be sufficient as the 2nd filter?

Hi, dimensions will be 7ft long x 19" wide x 20" deep.

yeah a 2028 and a 2224 will work nice on a 550L, one on each end would be great.

great, thanks. The 2224 was planned to be additional filter to run UV on 4ft tank, which also has a 2028.

I will get the little Eheim filter I originally linked here to run the UV on the 4ft (will that work) & transfer the 2224 to the new 7ft.

Will this be ok?

should be fine, the 2224 flows at a decent enough rate for a small filter, if not keep an eye on ebay and if a cheep 2228 or 2217 shows up grab that and you'll have plenty of filtration.

I just bought a 2nd hand eheim 2217 on ebay tonight, so I will have either the 2224 or 2217 to use as the 2nd filter on this tank now. Which one do you recommend I use? Whichever will not be used on this tank, will go to the African tank to run it's UV.

(Wayne, if you read this, I still want that little filter you've put aside for me - as I've decided that QT deserves it's own cannister, if the Heckels are to stay there long term).

2217 has more media capacity then 2224 so I'd use that.
