Are bassalt rocks collected from beach ok

hi everyone, i have read somewhere on this forum that bassalt rocks and granite are the best rocks to put in your tank. Here on christmas island we have a few bassalt outcrops however the most accessible ones are by the ocean. My partner knows a bit about rocks and said they will be fine if i wash them then soak them in a water/vinegar solution then just wash thoroughly. Is he right? Thanks.

This question has been answered by ILLUSN, thanks. He is a ledgend and btw the answer is yes as long as washed thoroughly. I soaked mine in a weak hydrochloric acid solution then a vinegar solution then scubbed every rock in de-chlorinated water and then i boiled them.
