Today I went to an aquarium and bought 10 discus! They had 30% off, so i scored 5 BD's (good useage of abbreviation?) and 5 PB's (again good useage?) for only $35 each. They are an ok size to.
They are in a standard 3ft tank, 28 degrees, pH 6.8, gh 8 and filtration consists of a jebo cannister filter. The tank mates include 2 small angels and 2 golden rams.
After my brief stint in discus 3 years ago, which resulted in 3 spawnings and one diaster (lost my female and some others) I got out of discus and took up other American cichlids. I plan to slowely phase them out, and go all discus. Looking into my tank now, I wonder how i could have ever gotten rid of them! What a fool I was.
I shall try and get some pics up tomorrow.
Cheers
Alistair

Congrats on getting your new fish mate. Just 1 question how many galllons is your tank. Because 10 fish in a 3footer sounds a bit cramped.
Good luck with your new fish.

Thanks, the substrate is 3mm gold gravel, with a layer of iron rich clay on the bottom. The plants are val, which you can see up the back, swords which all came from one original plant and 2 peices of driftwood with anubias attatched.
This is what the tank looked like about 5 months ago:

I got the discus from A-grade importers in Oakleigh, it is quite a nice little shop. :)
