And another does anyone have info question. There are a few cool Apistos popping up again up here.

Also saw Jurensis and Trifaciata - nice looking pairs. They are getting more Regani and saw a few Alacrian about.

They've been appearing in lfs in Adelaide too - the trifasciatums that is.

Now the owner of a nice pair of A trifasciata.....couldn't see them properly till they were in the bag!!!

They only had 2 fish but I'm confident they are a pair....they are very similar to "fish r" 's in colour...just a bit younger

Good on ya - they seemed very skitish in the tank I thought - but male looked good. Couldn;t get a good view of the girly.

These guys are looking very promising. I have seen a few and it seems the biggest are always the females that I have seen. My Male is starting too colour and looking promising.

p.s. Alacrina is apparantly comes from the latin for hairt armpit. Love the fact these guys look like showing good colour and having funniest name of a fish I kept yet.

People think I am strange when I say I have some Hairy armpit dwarfs at home now.

I made 4 new breeding pots last weekend. Put a couple in the 6 footer where the alacrian are growing out. Today the female (who always seemed completely uniterested) is in the pot. Assume eggs.

Those apisto's you mention are comming from Bayfish. Karen aka bubbles might post up some pics of theirs in the next week or so.

I buy small terracotta pots. Generally if you buy at a nursery they look at you funny adn say what do you think you are going to grow in these.

Generally cost around $1.00 max each.

Then bash a hole in the end. Last lot I used a chisel and hammer - have previously been professional and used a drill and hole cutter, or slightly less professional and used a file.

The make sure that I grind the edges a bit too make sure no sharp bits on the edge.

From what I read the size hole is important - want big enough just for female to feel secure.

This is an earlier model where I got fancy and siliconed on the base - so that I could easily move female and fry.

Last two lots I made I didn;t bother and just left bare bottom. In a tank with substrate this gives the fish something to dig out.

This is the pots in action. Notice I give a choice but the only fish to not choose a pot was my panduro.

I have a selection of pots and different size openings to offer too the fish.

The fish will not get too keen on a pot if not interested in breeding.

Ben - exactly - most the apistos up here seem to come through bay. A few beeders seem to be starting to get some going. Don't have the choice of NSW and Vic. About the only negative about living in QLD.

My panduro were the only pair I had that would almost refuse to spawn in a pot. I tried those caves that Thomas uses, driftwood, slate and nothing. They even used to dig under and around most of the caves I put in there for them and use the underside to spawn. I put in one of those Exo Terra(???) reptile caves and bingo!

Latest piccie - male is looking good. Nice blue hues with strong blak to fin marginals.

Just reintroduced girlie to big tank having split form first spawn - probably about 10 fry.
