I have a 2" discus who seems to be bullied in his current tank. He started out with only once other discus his same size and took the subordinate role from the beginning. After adding 3 more discus, he has one fin that has never healed from nips. He is not constantly bullied; in fact, I rarely see him being bothered at all except by one fish during feeding; never seen any blood. His life is not in danger; he just has this one fin looking ragged. Because we do not see anyone fighting for the most part, we took him out to treat for fin rot but it changed nothing. His fin seems to be growing back very slowly as he is still in the hospital tank. My question: Should he go into our new discus tank? We only have starter fish in there now-no other discus. His old home is a 55 gal, this new one is 75 gal. My thinking is that if he is the first discus he will feel more confident and newcomers will respect him more once we add them. Any thoughts?
