most marinated foods container sugar as a sweetner and binding agent, that will loead to bacterial blooms in your tank.
the active ingrediant is not too stable from what i've read, so fresh garlic would be best followed by a comercail product stabilised for aquatic use.

they are marinated in oil i guess,so no.
garlic alone wont cur your fish it just help them to avoid them.
you should give them a levamisol or metro treatment

And don't forget a Prazi (Praziquantel) treatment for tape worms! Levamisole and Praziquantel are both quite safe to use with Discus. I've used both and never lost a single fish, not even a 'lowly' tetra.

i'll be going to the LFS tomorrow. but the thing is i have 2 discus that i suspect have worms, the rest are fine with dark poo and bright colours, but theyre all in the same tank. Would prazi have any effect on the other 'healthy' discus?
