Now at 3 days old (29/01) - dad's always wants to have a look at the kids but mum chase him off all the time.

31/01 - 5 days old. Mum took them out for the first time. This photo was taken in the evening and mum has gathered the kids back into the cave.

2/2 - 7 days old now. mum has been taking them around the tank. As they're now out of the cave, the photos are no longer taken with a torch shining into them hence it's quite dark (tank is dark and water is brown).

Thanks for the well wishes Andrew, my last attempt went well until the batch reached adulthood. Then one after another - they died.
I'll try to keep some photographic record of their development. Now that I got a better handle on taking photos in dim light, the photos are turning out better than my last round of elizabethae.

Not at the moment, so far all are well and the pair has been good parent.
However due to work commitment - I got slack with the pictures.
Hopefully some can be taken tomorrow.

I completely understand... do you think you'll be selling the little ones???

Still no time to take photos, all juveniles are going very well so far.
However today I just noticed a new problem ..... the pair has spawned again (kids are about 1.5 months old now). Despite this is a good problem to have, I still need to find a tank and set it up for the current fry to grow out with (otherwise they may eat up the newly hatched). I think the second spawn happened today as I just noticed her belly became very flat and starting to wander and check inside the cave (she normally hangs out with the kids).
Mmmm.. more work to do on the weekend.....
Rob - those tanks from you are becoming quite handy now....

Eventually - if they reach adult and enough in number. A year ago with my first attempt, I lost the whole colony in 3 months after just managing to get 12 to adult (last one died in Jan 08).

Finally got around to take some new photos tonight. These are the same fry that got hatched in the earlier photos (the second lots were snacked up by them before I can remove the juveniles).
Again, these are taken with the tank's light so it's rather dim.

Another shot of the family, the female still gives the male a hard time every now and then.

Thanks Mike.
Yeah, they're growth rate are much faster than the one last time. There are only 2 months old and they might become sex able at around 4 month if they remain to grow at this rate.

Wow, they have grown so much since February. They look really nice.
Now that I got a better handle on taking photos in dim light, Do you keep the tank without a light? If so, is that 'cause it's better for the fry?

Yeah, I was quite amaze on their growth rate where I recalled the last time round they only reach this size around 4 months.
And there isn't any steroids in their diets.
As for dim light, it's just the way I had the tank setup. They are in the racks (amongst other tanks) and honestly you will want to limit the amount of lights with the numbers of tanks I got

Latest update to the batch - still growing well without any issue. Now they're off in their own tank and I expect a batch of brothers/sisters will be hatching tonight.
