potassium is it benificial to discus or not?

hi all wanted to know if adding potassium to tanks helps in any way or if there are any ill effects in doing so?
and any opinions from previous use and results would be greatly appreciated

doesnt do any ham i put in 1 tsp every water change for the plants (2x a week) and this fish are all fine.
