Hi people!
Dont have any Discus yet - hope to get my first pair in next week (for my B-day!) 45gal tank has been running for 4 weeks now with readings: Amm 0, NO2 0, NO3 0, pH 6.8, GH 3, KH 3. Is this ready for Discus? Hope to post some pics in next week and following your forums for advice!
Have seen some real stunning fish in the albums!

Hi Jenpoo and welcome to the forum.
A cycled tank should have zero ammonia, zero nitrite and at least some nitrate reading. What method are you using to cycle the tank?
I'd suggest you grab some used filter medium from one of your other tanks to give you an instant cycle. You can then either feed the bacteria colony with pure ammonia, or toss in an uncooked prawn (shrimp) and as it decomposes it will provide ammonia to feed and increase the bio filtration.
Your bio filter is a living, breathing colony of two different types of bacteria, and you need to feed it with a source of ammonia.
Do that for a couple of weeks, then remove the prawn, do a big water change, and you're ready to add your discus. :P
