Mixing Wilds and Tank Raised

I currently have 4 tank raised discus in my 90G. I am planning on getting 2 similar sized (may be little bit smaller than ones in the tank) wild caught discus. Would this work out? Are there any cause for concerns? Thanks!

Wild caught discus do much better is a low pH. Something between 5 and 5.5 is suitable. Domestic fish will be quite happy in the lower pH so long as the change is gradual, over a few days.

The only problem I see is that if your water is naturally hard coming out of the tap, then you'll have to invest in an RO unit to maintain your water at a low pH.

Thanks for the info, Merrilyn. The discus in question were with the breeder for about 6 months at pH 6.4. Mine is about 7.0 to 7.2. Anyhow, I got two yesterday and put them in my tank. I got an unbelievable deal, at least that's what I think. $35 US each and they are 5"+ from head to base of the tail! They are bigger than my biggest discus in the tank. Here are the pics. It hasn't been 24 hours yet, but they appeared to have settled in OK. I don't think they are eating, but swimming around and checking things out. I was thinking they were greens, the black halo is sooo strong through the fins.

very nice fish, you should be happy with them, try to get them eating ASAP, use mozzie wrigglers or even live worms if you have to, you dont want them loosing weight

Thanks for the comments. I am very happy with them. I will keep everyone posted on how they get along. Right now, there's been some fighting among the discus trying to establish a new pecking order. The new two are bigger than the other guys in the tank, so we will see what happens.

Thanks! The second guy is still not eating, but he looks very good and he (she :?: ) is swimming around and not hiding. So I am not too concerned right now. Hopefully, he will start eating with the next couple of days.

Happy to report that they are both eating and doing well. They love the frozen bloodworms, but don't like the pellets as much. Hopefully, they will eat more pellets.
