Hello,
I've searched and I can't find a clear answer on this issue.
How many fish per gallon or liter would you recommend for a bare tank?
Assume adults please.
Thanks

Do people still recommend 50L/fish for a planted tank?
Obviously water change frequency, feeding, filtration all come into play, but what would be the max no. of adults for a 400L tank? I'd love to squeeze a couple more into my 4x2x2
2 x Eheim's, 50% w/c every 2nd day, 9 discus.

Barry,
I have a 4x2x2 tank and have had up to 12 discus in my heavily planted tank and they were fine. I would recommend putting no more than this though and keep your water clean.
Dave.

planted tanks are harder to clean propperly, especially if you like to over feed beefheart like i do. in my 6x2x2 planted i have 9 adult discus.
filtration eheim pro 3 2080 + pentair aquatics FB900 (run by eheim compact 2000 pump) +36w UV. 2x 35-45% changes a week

Thanks Davo & ILLUSN. Might stick with the 9 at the moment and keep the waterchanges up.
Just means I need to talk nicely to the better half for another tank...
