Short Story: A discus breeding friend of mine sold some juvinile fish to a LFS. Upon visiting some months later noticed the fish were'nt looking too good. Primary symptom = white faeces. The fish had been wormed (twice - once before delvery and once since). My friend was told the fish were stressed as they'd been constantly moved from tank to tank. Anyway my friend, non too pleased, re-took possession of the the fish which have since died. My question, what is Flagalettes, and what is the cure :?: I ask this as the little research I have done on white faeces leads me to suspect Flagalettes. Any advice, assistence and or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks
regards
Glenn

flagellets are highly motile bacteria, the usual culprit in discus is spirnucleus vortens.
Metronizole is the drug of choice, but some strains are becoming resistant.

you can hinder their replication by lowering the ph to about 4.5-5.0. and upping the temp to 30-32C to speed up their matabolisum.
