Hello all, I am new to these forums,
I'm in Melbourne, keeping African rift lake cichlids.

I have been thinking about setting up a planted tank, and putting a couple of discus in there, but I'm a little wary of them. I like the hardiness of the africans.

Hi Paul, I am still a newbie with discus and the help on this forum is invaluable. I found out so much info just by reading up here. I have now 5 discus in a 4 foot tank. Two of the fish are now laying eggs, so I must be doing something right!! Don't believe all the stories about discus being really difficult to keep.

Yep, there is soo much talk about Discus being hard to keep... myth maybe?
With alittle time some common sense and of course money Discus are easy fish and certainly well worth the viewing pleasure in a planted tank.

I have a pic in the amazon garden thread, titled "discus planted tank; it's working. That was only after reading info on here and having a go.
