im going to start putting ro water in with my discus tank
they seem a little un happy with the tap water being added
and i just finished reading that you could poisen the little beautys with tap water
and that the hot water heater hurts them even more with sludge and stuff

so my question is do i need ro water or
is aging tap water for 24 hours is enough
with heater and a powerhead and some prime of course and some thing to lower the ph
and if ro is recommended what do you put in the ro
it would be like 40% water changes every 3 days

You dont need ro unless your water is extreamly hard, aging for 24hrs with prime should be ok, if your overly parranoid(like me) you can filter your aged water through carbon and zeolite to remove any toxins and impurities ( a 2nd hand canister from ebay will do, you wont need a big one).

you'll have to add in some vitamins to their diet to replace the minerals the carbon removes.
