Have just done my first dose of metro, vet gave me four 400mg tabs for three treatments of a 400ltr tank. Does this sound like the right dosage and are there any signs I should now be on the look out for??
Thanks

This an extract from a post on this forum about hole in the head disease. The dose rate may seem to be very high, but it's backed by the latest veterinary research.
1. Do a 30% water change.
2. Set the temperature to 30 degrees, no higher.
3. Add 250 mg Metro per 10 (ten) Litres of water. Crush tablets to fine powder and mix with water to form a paste before adding to the tank.
4. After 48 hours, do another 30% water change and repeat the dose. This should be done for a total of 3 treatments.
5. During treatment the tank lights should be left off. Metro is affected by light. And turn off your UV unit.
6. A variety of good quality, high protein food with added vitamins and minerals should be fed several times daily. Include prepared dry food, beef heart, brine shrimp, green vegetable matter and blood worms in the diet. Remove any uneaten food and keep the water very clean.

If possible, move your fish to a small hospital tank for treatment, or if the fish are still eating well, try to add some to their beefheart mix as well as treat the water.

Hi again fishgeek, Why would the vets name be a personal interest to you? Have they done something wrong?

No problem Andrew but it wasn't Scott or Jim. The vet was the famous flying Vet (if anyone saw the series) Peter Trembath who doesn't specialise in fish but took the time to listen and do some research for me, a good vet but more importantly a bloody good bloke
