hi all, is red eyes (red colour around black iris) something a discus either have or haven't got due to genetic, or is it a colour that it will develop as the fish mature (given that the discus have never had any colour enhancement include tetra bit)? thanks.

From my experience, two red eyed parents will have a much better chance of producing red eyed fry. The red colouring can be improved by colour feeding, but you will not turn a golden eye into a deep red eye.
Colour does deepen as the fish matures, but if a twelve month old individual has a golden eye, then it will never change.
Any eye colour from deep red to pale gold and even white is acceptable and perfectly normal. With more buyers prefering red eyes, the breeders are trying to oblige by producing more red eyed fry.
