beach almond leaves

hey all,just wondering what the benefits of using dead beach almond leaves in your tank water are. i have seen it used in some lfs.

Is beach almond the same as indian almond (Terminalia catappa)?

If so, the benefits are discussed in detail in the thread below. In summary, it is supposed to lower pH, provide blackwater environment, is a mild antiseptic, induces spawning, etc, etc.
