Not sure if this is in the right spot or not but im sure someone will tell me if not.

I have a firemouth peacock and she has a mouthfull atm and has done so ful the last 2-3 weeks and looks very full. Just wanted to get peoples thoughts if i should attempt to strip(i havent done so before) her or to leave her be. She is currently in her own tank 2ft, and only in there with some bristlenose.

Interested to get e1 ones thoughts.

Cheers.

Hey

If she is looking really thin and stressed then I would strip her for the sake of her health.

Stripping is up to you. since she is in a tank by herself I dont' see any problem just leaving her be and let her spit by herself if her health isn't in danger.

I personally would strip her.

Thanx Dan, i appreciate you comments.

Funny enough i just turned her light on to check how she is going and has either spat 1 out or 1 escaped... Scooped it up and put it in the breeding net/cage.

Might see if i have any more out by thursday and if not might help her out as she hasnt eaten for ages and fry seem (to me) to be a good size - just over 0.5cm. That sound right? Anyway will see what we end up with.

Cheers,

Anyone else i welcome you opinion too.

Hey

As long as the babies don't have anymore eggsack, they are ready.

Sounds like they are ready but shes just being a too good mother and holding on to them a bit longer then she should be.

Just wait and all should be good.

I personally strip them so I can bulk her up quicker and put her back with the colony quicker.

Also I dun have a spare tank to isolate my females.

Just an update,

Stipped 8 last night so 9 in total, but she still has a couple left. The ones I have no loger have an egg sack and look healthy. Think she is just over protecting but not sure if i should take the rest or not...

Anyway im now enjoying my new fry and feeding them up.

Cheers for e1 help.

Hey Congrats.

She may swallow the rest. Because of being stressed already by taking out the 8.

Next time, I would strip the lot in one go.

But Practice makes perfect :)

Goodluck with the babies.

Hey

No prob.
Peacocks are easy as to breed :)

Just dont' mix different peacock varieties with each other because females all pretty much look the same so will cross.
