hi all,
is a 39cm cube tank too small for discus to breed in? i know that an 18" cube would be better but what do people think?

That tank is just under 60L.
It proably could be done but you'd have to keep a very close eye on your water quality (will degrade quickly) and your temp may fluctuate (a small body of water is much harder to keep stable).
I know samir breeds red fish in an 80L (60x30x30) im pretty sure he drops the water level as well once the fry hatch, so 60L might be ok.

I understand you meant 60L 60x30x30. Thats just a standard 2ft..
So 30cm is high enough for them to breed? thats surprising...
i know 39cm cube is a bit small, thats why i asked here to see what people who bred discus think about it.

60x45x30 is 80L your 39x39x39 is just under 60L.
30 cm of depth should be ok. my breeding tanks are 60x45x45 but the water level is usually at the the 25-30cm mark (easier for the fry to find the parents)
