hey.
i have a moderately planted tank, but atm i have a slight algae problem as well as the water is a lil dusty.
i was told that if u use a UV sterilizer it kills everything in the water including nutrients, is this true?
if so how do you compensate the plant food if it keeps getting killed by the UV sterilizer?
also are internal UV sterilizers effective?
cheers

I'm sure you'll recieve many suggestions (opinions) about the use of UV. UV can kill off algae bacteria and pathogens (germs etc) but I doubt nutrients will be effected as some use UV religuously in their breedingset-ups. If algea is a problem use less light, less lighting duration and / or check exposure to natural light.

hi, I had the same question a while back and contacted the people at seacheam labs to be told that UV filtration will not elliminate products like Flourish and Trace from the water coloumn, if you have a look aroud you might be able to find the post.
