GRAVEL TO SAND???

Hello i'm just wondering if I can use the BEACH sand as the substrate for my discus tank???

what do u think?
can u give me the pros and cons?
any feedback?

NO WAY!
beach sand is full of salt (way too much for discus)
the sand itself is derived from crushed shells, coral as well as weathered rock, so its very rich in carbonate which will send your ph up through the roof.

if you want to use sand use quartz based silica sand (poolfilter sand etc) this stuff contains no salt and no carbonates.

ohh ok... where can i get that quartz based silica sand u were talking about? and how much do u think it cost?

It's cheap, bout $20-$25 for 25-40kg depending on the shop.
