Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Strazinsky and I rescue fish. Usually rather large ones LOL. I've been keeping cichlids for over 20 yrs and I've got the opportunity to get a few discus as soon as I get a tank set up for them. So I figured I'd join a discus forum... Makes sense to me :)

And we're glad you did.

Welcome to the forum Jonathan. Hope you enjoy your time with us.

Love to hear more about your fish rescue. Too many times I see cute small fish being sold that I know will grow into monsters, and no one is telling the prospective purchaser the truth.

You're doing a great service to the fish keeping community.

Hey Johnathan,

Welcome to our world.

We love our Cichlids, we keep South American Dwarf's (Apistogramma's) what kind of Cichlids do you keep?

I love the Discus Forums, they are like my extended family :salute :salute :salute :salute

I joined this forum for the same reasons but for the Cichlid side of the forum & I've never looked back.

Cheers,
Bubbles aka Karen

Most of my tanks, the bigger ones have valves installed for ease of water changes :D So it's not bad, it takes about two hours every sunday to do changes.... then it's no hot water for showers LOL

It takes us about the same time to do 7 breeding tanks, a 40ltr & a 4x2x18 tank.

There is always water changes/maintenance at home on a Saturday or a Sunday.

We age our water in a big bin & then pump it out & into the tanks via a water pump - much easier & less time consuming, I'm sure there are even easier way's but the budget is spent on fish - not maintenance. lol.

We also boil our own peat for black water to naturaly lower the PH which we do twice a week.

Cheers,
Bubbles aka Karen
