Do discus need a light on their tank or is natural light sufficient? Does it affect health and / or breeding either way?

Natural light is fine Pete, although most folk will have lights over their tanks to show off the colours of their fish.

The only time artificial light is really necessary is when the pair have eggs or fry. Leaving the light on allows the parents to keep track of their babies during the night.
