Any tricks for filter hoses?

I have got home today to find the intake hose from my filter almost totally folded over, and the flow of water into my tank at a dribble. also one of my discus is dark and not happy. any tricks to stop this happening? I have for the moment wedged one of my guitars under them to stop them from kinking, but would like to hear how others stop this problem.

Hoses should be as short & straight as possible to avoid kinks. You won't have any more problems done this way.

get yourself a couple of bends for your filter hose, they just slip on and stop the hose from kinking
