What is the best treatment for bloat.
One of my fish must have really pigged out last night, and this morning he is very swollen and facing downwards.
I have heard Epsom Salts is good, but I am not sure as to how much to put in. Can someone please advise me as what to do. I don't know what to do.
Thanks

Could be lots of reasons for the bloating, but epsom salts is a good start.
One level teaspoon in 20 litres of water should encourage him pass excess food within 24 hours. Treatment should preferably be carried out in a bare bottom hospital tank, where you can see the 'results'.
If it has no effect, then we need to look at something else, because it may be bacterial.

Thankyou Merrilyn for responding. I have put him in the hospital tank with some epsom salts.
After 24hrs should I do a 50% w/c.
Thanks

It only takes 24 hours for the salts to be effective. It's an excellent laxative.
After 24 hours, if there's no improvement, do a full water change to remove the epsom salts, and commence antibiotics, tri sulphur would be my next choice.

I am happy to report all is well. A couple of hours in the epsom salts and he was back to normal.
Thanks for the advice
