could that evaporation top up kit be able to used as a 'daily water change system'

i.e. you have a separate pump on a short timer to pump out say 5% of the water

and this device would sense the drop in water level and fill it back up from the reservoir (which I assume can be any size?)

it seems like an elegant way (and cheap) way compared to some hifalutin 'auto top up' systems I've seen.
