Not sure if I ever noticed this before, But does anyone else have this end result ? (I use RO water now, I never used to for my Discus.)
When adding 6-Tbsp. of Aquarium Salt to 120L does this lower pH ?
ie: Start: 6.5
End: 6.1

Reccomendation on the box of salt. Its one of the best Aquarium Brands.
API
I had my 4 discus in that amount for 24-Hrs. then did a 50% W/C. To get it to more comfortable dsicus salt levels.
Im doing it for a pre-disease treatment.

never noticed it before, I've also used the same dose during treatment for finrot, hex, slimy skin etc with no bad results. 6.5 sounds a little hard for ro water, i used rainwater that was 6.0-6.5. 6.1 sounds pretty typical for RO.

I keep away from anything lower then 6.5, Thus anything lower then 6.0 will kill all beneficial bacteria and my canister filter becomes useless.

I think you'll still find plenty of filter bacteria at 6.0, 5.0 maybe not but at 6.0 (ALL of dads tanks filtered by 2217's and 2228's) biofiltration is not a problem. If ever your in sydney drop by and Dad will give you the full tour, he's very proud of his ultra soft water discus tanks, just dont tell him they're over stocked
