My pigeon was free from peppering when i got it. It was already big about 15cms and free from peppering but since Ive had it its started getting grey peppering on the fins and head?

I know its pigmentation but I thought a fish would have it through out its life not be clean and then start developing peppering pigmentation or are there other factors effecting it?

I feed discus mix, tetra bits and bloodworms, water parameters are good all zero and weekly water changes, ph around 6-6.5

Any ideas?

the darker the surroundings the more peppering it will get.

Will this then be reversed whe you lighten the conditions?

dark gravel and planted tanks usually bring out the peppering

I'm having the same problem with my discus. I leave the room completely dark when I go to school and don't come back til about 6 hours later. Will this encourage peppering?

I also have a planted tank which is probably the reason but was just wondering if dark rooms help peppering.
