Filter Media

I've just bought a Eheim Liberty 100, and it came with some standard blue filter media... Just wondering, will this 'normal per se' filter media be able to harbour beneficial bacteria?

hi Ace the blue media will do the job with bacteria.but i add some noodle or matrix to mine, i use aquaclear i put just a little in the bottom .but that is what i do. hope that helps scott
