what is the dosing rate for using epsom salt on discus?
what are the benefits? or con?

1 teaspoon per 40 litres
It has a laxative effect on the discus.
Usually used to help fish with possible digestive or swim bladder disorders
It should have no ill effects on your discus or your other fish. (I am not sure in regard to scaless fish such as loaches or catfish but I do know that it is not "salt" as such (ie.sodium)... it is magnesium sulfate. )
Just a further tit bit of trivia...
Its common use in homes is as a water softener.

I find it good to give them a dose after worming as well. Also it's a great muscle relaxant in a hot bath for us humans.
