Hi people, I have a question about my spounge filter. Should there be any air bubbles coming from the top of then or should they appear from the spounge sides? Hope you nderstand what i mean! Quite hard to explain

air should come out the top, not through the sponge.

Just a thought, I am currently trying to cycle a new tank. My old one has only 1 Congo Tetra and One Discus, has a internal buit in filter and also a mature spuonge filter. Could I pull out the spounges from the built-in filter and put them all into my new tank and only run he spounge filter in the old one? Need to get my tank cycled asap as ive been trying for 3 months!! (fishless cycling)

It will help speed it up a lot.
3 month is a very long time. you must have some no2 and no3 by now?

I did the first time i cycled it but it stalled! Tried twic sonce and had no readings! Have been adding 15 dpops of ammonia daily and good airation. Ill take the spounged out of the old one and only run a spounge filter in to and lots of w/c. Thanks

stopp adding ammonia for a day or 2. if the level get too high the bacteria wont grow, try adding a bit of starter (cycle works well) to get it going again, sorry 3 months is way too long 1 month should be all it takes, tops.

first time it started really well and then stalled! Second time i never had a nitrite reading for weeks. Third time i took all the water out, cleaned the spounges incase they where blocked with dead plants then added enough ammonia to bring it up to 4 ppm then added 16 drops of ammonia daily, so far its been a week and had no nitrite reading yet, last night i added two spounges from my old tank and added another 16 drops of ammonia to feed the bacteria! Fingers crossed

Im really dissapointed, I thought after putting 2 well matured filters in yesterday something would have happened but tested water tonight and Ammonia still on 2-4 Nitrite 0 ppm!! I hope this will work! I feel like crying!!!!

mate, if youve got plants in there chances are they are consuming all your ammonia and No2 and No3. just for next time, cycle first then add plants.
