easly done just tape up the opening and use any spray paint as long as there is no paint getting inside of your tank you will be fine.

Give it a wipe down with meto first and acrylic works fine as well.
Cheers,

I have just painted the rear of 2 x 3ft tanks with blue acrylic paint. I bought it from Bunnings. It cost $7 for 250ml and that was enough for 3 coats for one tank. I bought a small roller (about 3" wide) and a small tray.

I'm getting ready to paint the tank in next couple weeks.
Is there a specific brand I need to buy?
Want to paint the back of the tank blue, is there specific code for the blue? eg. blue 101 or something?
Sorry for all these questions

:D G'day I was supprised how well acrylic paint sticks to the tank backrounds. I have had mine painted just after I started this thread and have had no problems with paint comming off.

The colour you choose is up to you of course, but remember that your fish will be affected by the colour you choose. A darker blue will make PB's pepper up if they have pepper, can make blue fish darker, show mood bars. Light colours can have the effect of drianing fish colour, or lessening pepper on PB's.
I recently moved a PB and SS to a white painted tank, and they now look like a different fish.

Thanks H. the thing you says about colour will affect Pepper - thats the way our eyes see it right? it doesn't affect the fish in actual?

Hi all,
I use water based paint as its a lot easier to get off than acrylic when needed :D
Have u ever tried getting acrylic off a tank?
Just dont get it wet

Use pressure packed cans of water based acrylic.
