I currently have my tank in front of the loungeroom window at the moment. (No where else to put it).
With the backing on the back of the tank and the wooden cover on the top, it is very very dark in there. I am sure the Discus can't see what they are doing and I can't see them. I don't turn the lights on until lunchtime and they go off at 10.30pm. The loungeroom does not get a lot of sun only early mornings in summer.
My question is, if I take the backing off is that going to cause algae problems or any other sort of problem. Would it be more beneficial for the plants to have natural light.
