:) G'day. I am setting up a standard 6ft for Discus and would like to add a UV. What do you guys think of this? It is a 9watt Jebao from Age of Aquariums. For filtration I am using 2x Aqua Nova cannisters also from Age. And was going to hook up the UV to one of those.
I could'nt find any replacement bulbs at Age do you know if they are easy to find and change and how often?
Thanks
Todd

Havent used the Jebao ones.
I use Pondmaster and Atman 11w units, work pretty well for me.
Replacement bulbs arent that hard to get.

9w wont do anything unless your flowrate is about 200l/h or less, try the jebao 24w with a small canister about 400-500l/h

What size filter do you have hooked up to your 11w pondmaster Roy?
I have a pondmaster 11w on the way from Aquuarium Supplies Australia to hook up to my 2217 eheim. Will that be ok you think? I was told that it would be.

:) Thanks for the advice. I think I will go with either a Eheim classic 2213 or an Eheim ecco 2232 filter. Any recomendation between those two or any other? I will also run a Aqua Nova 1500
As for the UV I might get a Jebao 18watt. What do you think?

I'd go the 2213, better value for money, as for the 18w again check the flow rate.
all i got from their web site was the max flow for ponds, which is useless for our purposes.

No UV will do enough in a fish tank unless the flow rate is very low.
I use a formula of 1.5watts per 50 l/ph so a filter with a actual flowrate of say 1000 lph would require at least 30 watts of UV in order for the UV to work at all.
A 2213 has a real life flow rate of about 250-300 lph therefore would require at least 9 watts for any effectiveness.
In practice I double it....
So I'd go a 2213 plus a 18 watt PONDMASTER UV.
Jebo/Jeabo whatever ....they simply suck
In practice it would be cheaper to fit a 36w Pondmaster UV to your Aqua nova filters as they get about 800 litres a hour of flow.

:) Thanks.
At this stage I think I will go with Taksan advice and get a 36watt Pond master and use with a Aqua Nova 1500. As this would be my cheaper option.
