Ehiem 2028 ver 2028 Pro II

Besides the ability to press the filter to start priming are these two filters identical ?

There is $100.00 difference between the two and wanting to know if i can justify the extra. I don't really care about the priming function and a flow indicator and if thats all i get I'll live without it.

I did notice however that the pro II has a ~16mm inlet and outlet port whereas the standard 2028 has a smaller outlet(~12). As I run a large UV after the filter the larger outlet port would be helpful although I could aways use an adapter to increase the line size to my UV inlet port.

Ummmm a 2028 and a 2028 pro II are exactly the same filter.

2228 is the old Eheim pro ...... if your going to get one of them get a 2217 classic as they don't offer much extra.

What you should get is a 2078....

Taksan is right i have 1 2228 and 6 2217's, 2228 has slightly more media capacity (about 1L), baskets are nice for cleaning, it uses 25w/h to move 1000L 2217 uses 20w/h to move 1000l, (2028 also uses 20w/h) 2217 has less (as far as i can tell ZERO) bypass as water moves from bottom to top through all the media with no other possible path (to be fair there is VERY VERY little in the 2228), for the money the 2217 is a better buy simpler cheaper and just as effective. 2078 would be nice, for the money nothing beats the 2080, got one of these and i'll be buying a few more.

The 2228 will be much easier to maintain than a 2217, its simply a more advanced filter plus it has slightly more media capacity. The amount of water bypass in the 2228 is virtually nil so don't let that sway you too much either.

Personally I vote you go with the 2228. I have one of these and they are brilliant!

Greggy has a good point for $30 the 2228 is easier to clean, i like 2217's cause their cheap and work well, also, my power bill is going to be close to $1000 this quarter, so saving 5w/h per filter is incentive for me. get either of the 2 you wont be upset, again i'd go the 2217 feel free to call me a Tight A** :D

I have a 2228 and a 2213 on my 4x2x2. The 2228 is alot easier to clean as you can clean individual baskets if needed whereas the 2213/2217 do not have seperate baskets.

Where do you get the 2028 at those prices? Was that a special promotion? Over the last few months when I have been browsing, the 2028s I've seen in Adelaide have been nearer $600 (I have the 2028 but will perhaps need to replace the tubing and the spraybar).

it was asa..they advertise on this forum...shipping was also very reasonable...
I am soo happy with this filter so quiet and the priming function is great...Its must be the Rolls Royce in filters and worth the extra.
