As luck would have it no the smaller one is in a tank by its self its just not happy at the mo.It went really light in colour and got shy it hasnt lost weight but has stopped growing .The bigger one of the two flirts with any thing in fins male or female so maybe some hekel crosses.

what ph are they at ? imo its not a good idea to mix them with domestic discus till they have completed growing.

The ph is 6.8 i use a mix of 50,50 rain /tap water they have been mixed with "domestics"the whole time i have had them ,why not mix them .

you want them to be eating continuously when they are growing. If they stop for a week or you probably lose a cm. i feel its better not to mix them with domestics till they are full grown, you wouldn't want them catching something that knocks them back a couple of cm.
I'm not sure about 6.8, have been keeping mine at under 5.5. They are most active at around 4.0-4.5. If you keep them under 5.5 it will start eating again. Not sure what other people are keeping them at but in my limited experience 4-5 is an ideal ph for them. Don't mind keeping domestic discus at even 8.0 but not these guys.
If you can add a piece of driftwood, they prefer it to cones. The two people on the net who have posted breeding pics, have used driftwood. if you can manage a couple of branches at the top and the driftwood underneath, they will stay under the branches. cover on top, branches or driftwood makes a huge difference.
