Bought it as a gold red - german bred.

Certanly not double red as red is not intense enough from what I have seen. Can't really see in the pic but the colour of the tail changes from red through to a goldy colour and kinda matches in the dorsal and anal fins.

However I am no expert and the shop is not either. They did have double red in a seperate tank that looked more like I expect a double red too look. Personally I like this colouration better

He is in a small tank with the female and has free swimming fry now. No aggression but which is a surpise. Seems to be a real mellow couple. He knows enough not to go too close and she comes out every now and then and flicks her tail furtively at him.


He is well fed. They are eating mainly NLS and Tetra flake. Kinda like NLS as nice size and sinks nicely too them.
