Hi discus mad
If you decide to put the parent in another tank I suggest using the same water at the same temperature settings in the new tank. With my Satanoperca Lecosticta, I have transfered brooding parents by luring then into one of my fish buckets underwater as there seems to be less stress than catching with a net.
I have done this a few times and each time the female has not lost the urge to brood. Geos may react differently to my Lecosticta but I think they would be reasonably similar.
Which ever way you go I hope it goes well.
Cheers
Mark
