Hey Guys,
Just wondering how people feel about using salt in a discus tank? I haven't been using it before, but I have heard that it is beneficial. Do you think this is true?
Stan.

Salt is an excellent and mild medication, however, in the words of discus guru, Jack Wattley, discus are fresh water fish, not marine fish.
A little salt in the water if your fish needs medicating will alter the osmotic pressure, and this may be beneficial, but remember they come from some of the cleanest waters in the world, with a low pH and certainly no salt.
Keep your tank water pristine, and only ever add salt to the water if your fish is in need of medication.

salt is good like merrilyn says,as medication i use up to 2gr/l but i never use it just because i can, only when needed, and never forget,it can harm tank mates and plants.
