went to bunnings hoping that id find some egg crate today but no luck. just wondering if anyone knows where i can get some?

White plastic in a grid pattern. Cut it to size. Prices vary from about $10 to $20 per sheet big enough to divide a 2x2 tank. Water flows through - fish can't.

made of plastic..... Have no idea how much it costs these days. Have not had to use it in AGES.

They come in steal and plastic, ive tried both. I prefer the plastic as the aliminium seems to loose its white coating in long periods of water.

Ive also noticed that the plastic get alot more dirty and algea seems too thrive on it, fairly hard too clean though.

But you would only clean it once a year or so, when it got really bad.

I paid $7 for a 48"x18" sheet. but i ordered it through work so i think i got a discount..

I thought put in my 2 cents, I tried several places here in Melbourne - bunnings, Electrical wholesalers, lighting specialists with no luck

I eventually found & purchased a sheet 1200 x 600 for $12.50 at Mulford plastics

I believe they have an office in Sydney - Only open mon-friday though which was a real pain for me, ended up getting a friend with a day off to buy it for me

I know bunnings has it, its just you dont refer too it as egg crate. You say the cover for lighting fixtures..

Try go to the larger bunnings stores....

i bought mine from strictly aquarium for around $10 a square feet

i bought it from SA at Yagoona and Engadine!! Beverly Hill dun have it last time i asked them

Any one manage to track this down in Sydney. I am thinking about moving my 8 babies in my 4 foot tank, but separate them from my 4 juvs ...

Do large Bunnings have them , I think my closest "LARGE" bunnings is Dural ... bit far but will do the trip if need be. My small bunnings in Artarmon definietly don't have em.

I tried at J.R.Turk's among others and no they didn't stock it, at least not in their Springvale store here in Melbourne.

I know flukes managed to get his at a large bunnings store - but I tried 3 with no luck. I even pointed at their large area of it in thier lighting department and asked where they got it, only to be told it was supplied by an electrical contracter??

If you ask for it at Mulford's they should recognise it as "eggcrate" light diffuser. I called them on the phone & as soon as I said that bingo!.
They also had it on display near thier sales counter which made it easy.

Went to the largest Bunnings in a 15 km radius, and they don't have em.

Got my egg crate this morning ... use the address off their website, not whitepages ... in Sydney they moved to Silverwater, just in front of Silverwater prision ... and what a fine correctional facility that is ... prisons creep me out. Anyhow ... Mulford Palstics have what you are looking for ... they specialise in sheet plastic ... so maybe look for that in a local supplier ... cost $20 for aprox 120cmx60cm. I recommend Mulford ... the staff at the office and the warehouse were really happy and friendly.
