all my discus are from sls (i dont think i would buy discus from anywere eles).... thay are so professional there . thay even call me buy my frist name (i think thats koz i have been in ther like 1000 times)lol....

i have this pair by them self now.. as i have got all my other discus in my 5ft by 2ft by 2ft .. any ideas on how i can excurvate the tank to make them wount to spwan ???? (thay have been in the tank for 4 days) i was thinking of getting a breeding cone on the weekend !!!!

I am no expert by any means but I thought sometines if you wanted a pair to spawn that sometimes a lower ph is required ?

water changes with pure RO water , slight temp/pH difference and increased water changes and feeding with more live food eg brine shrimp or earthworms

try this

feed em live food for a few days prior and during

slightly colder water changes 2-3 degrees c (as scott said ) in the evening.

make sure the room is not brightly lit and thier isn't mush traffic

make sure the tanks lights are turning off at dusk

light a series of candles on one side of the tank :wink:

this is suposse to simulate a full moon when they seem to spawn the heaviest

play some barry white, get your other half or a date and tell em its all for them.

thier will be some spawnin of some sort, hopefully by a couple of species!

was thinking of putting a towel over the tank.....
the tank comes on at 7 in the morning and goes of at 11:30 at night ... so i guess i will have to change that.....also i am at work from monday to friday 7:30am till 5 so there is not much traffice in my room i feed some mosquito wriglers today will go and get some brine shrimp tomoz...
will try the candle thing soon ......

as for the barry white im 20.. so i have never herd of him and my girlfrind would think i was going crazy if i started playing it... lol was thinking i could but some more plants in the tank....

dont do a bloody thing! :)

let them settle in and maintain a healthy w/c schedule .


the more distractions you have in a tank the harder it will be to get a spawn.

gravel - not good at all for wrigglers that fall to the ground - so bare bottom it. alos a nightmare when you start heavy feeding.

If they are a genuine breeding pair they will spawn eventually. just let them settle in.

Keep everything stable for at least a few weeks. Don't want to stress the new additions. Lowering the temp is a bad idea this early on.

wrigglers are attracted to darkness. I wouldnt use it personally.

Also it's porous and has deep groves, so a PVC pipe would be a better choice.

should i still do weekly water changes ???? or just leave it b..... i have a small terrecotta pot in there now... will get a proper cone in a week if this does not work...
