Isnt brown algae due to low light? I run 2x96 compact floros....36" long, and I got home from work today to see this algae, mostly on my onion plant leaves :? I can get pics of it tomorrow. Does this have anything to do with my issues with my co2 system? Too much co2 with the lights not being on long enough? Last week the algae was pretty much gone, and everything looked pretty much the best it ever has, since toying with live plants......and that was mostly black hairy algae...this is different.
Thanks for your help....as always! :D

yep well there is part of your problem.
get that down to 5 ppm and reduce your light on time and that should help
utilize a carbon/ reson pouch and do more w/c
cheers

Thanks nicholas76 the lights are only on for 10 hours a day as it is
I usually try to keep my nitrates around 10, like the signature says, so I was gonna do a water change tomorrow
I didnt think carbon or bio-chem zorb pouches were really liked in planted tanks? I should update my signature....I prolly do about 20% sometime mid-week, and a larger (about 40%) on the friday or on the weekend sometime
Thanks for your help tho! :D

10 hours a day might be too much. Some of the plant gurus might be able to assist us with and answer regarding that
carbon resin products will assist in reducing your really high nitrate count to more acceptable levels. If you didnt have those readings id probably suggest againts it.
signatures arent really used for that purpose but not a bad idea i suppose.
good luck

Thanks nicholas76 I will do a water change tomorrow...Im all done making lady red's beefheart mix, and its 1030pm here, so def. no go for that tonight.
Next trip to the LFS I will pick up a carbon pouch, and see how the readings are with that in the cannister for a lil while, and go from there! :D
Thanks again :D
