hi i was looking at building a side drop filter in each of my breeder tanks and was wondering what your thoughts were in respect to this particular type of filter for breeding or growout tanks. i have a rough plan but wasnt sure if it would work as i havent found anything on the web to compare it .
thanks

I've seen this built into the back or side of a tank. Central area is filled with poly filter media and bio balls. Seems to work quite well in the tanks I have seen and very easy to clean the first stage filter media. It can all be hidden behind a false backdrop and looks very neat. Several lfs in Melbourne use this method.

MY LFS runs these on most of their tanks. All powered by air hoses, instead of pumps. Seems to work quite well. They use a course gravel and filter wool, IIRC.
