Spounge filter air driven

What does this do? Im currently setting up a new disucs tank Juwel 190L. Havent got an air pump yet. Will the filter pump provide enough air? Thanks

Sponge filter will add alot more air into your water, as well as provide some extra mechanical and biological filtration. a 200l/h air pump should be plenty for a 190L (could proably get away with a 100l/hour).

SO IF i GET A SPOUNGE FILTER WILL I ALSO NEED AN AIR PUMP? HOW DOES THE SPOUNGE FILTER WORK? WILL I NEED ANYTHING TO WORK IT? SUCH AS AIR PUMP?

sponge filters are air driven like old UGF and box filters, you'll need an airpump to connect to your sponge filter. as the air bubbles into your tank (into your sponge filter) it wil rise to the surface, as it does it will displace water drawing that into the filter (hence a current) as the water moves into the sponce, debri is collected on the outside. bacteria colonise the sponce and provide biological filtration. do a google search for aquarium filtration there are some REALLY got articales written about sponge filters out there.

Thanks! So it is worth investing in one. Need it for my new discus tank which im currently cycling. Was going to buy just an air pump but might as well get spounge filter for the same price!
