Hey

Congrats on the gouldians!!!!

Great looking bird.

Did you get the normal red headed ones?

They are fairly easy to keep and can breed all year round.

If there is anything in particular you want to know just ask away.
In Perth there is a WA FInch society. Probably should be one in your area.

Crocky,
Gouldians are close to the prettiest finch around I reckon.Mate if you live in an area where it gets cool at night you have to be very careful when the young ones get about 14 days old as the parents may no longer sit on them at night depending on how many they have in the nest. Not every pair do it but every pair that I have had have left them before they left the nest. The main reason they do this is because they come from the NT and it is pretty much warm all year round and it does not matter if they leave them or not.The other thing is they don't start to get any feathers till after about the 2-3 week mark. The way I got around it (as I live in an area where it gets below freezing in the winter) is I bought a home brew heater belt and wrapped the nest box in it and this kept it at a temp that they would survive if mum or dad left them at night. Mate I hope this helps as this is just my experience with gouldians they are a fantastic bird though, enjoy.

Congratulations Brad. Love to see some photos of them.

Seems like that Wangaratta water does the trick for birds too :P
