Was wondering how many fry people expect from an established breeding pair of discus?
I have heard some pretty big variations in size from 40 - 500 is this variation standard?

Thanks

all depends on the health of your fish, diet, size, age, fertility of male, strain, water parameters, clean breeding tanks etc etc. if you get them all right then i guess even 600-700 is possible from a single spawn.
it is possible to increase fry numbers from 50 odd to around the 300-400 mark just by treating the pair for flagellates / worms /flukes and then feeding it very heavily for a couple of weeks.

Hi i have had discus breeding for near over 20 years with breaks in between and the biggest spawn i have ever seen is around 300 if people are getting 400+ then they have to be feeding steroids to there females LOL not saying an odd freakish lay wont happen but normally around 200 to 300 max is top of the scale chart

I'm up to 600, nowadays I nearly always get 400+. :D no steroids just heavy feeding of beefheart with brine shrimp, sera premium granules and sera fishtamins. :D
