Hi Guys,
We just thought it might be fun to do a journal of a tank we just converted to freshwater.
It is going to be a Discus display tank.
The tank is one of our Classic curved glass tanks.
It is 4ft long, 1 meter high an 350 wide, hold approx 450 litres.
What we have used so far:
Red Sea Root Therm Substrate Heater 400
CaribSea Eco-Complete 9.2kg
Driftwood, Rock, Amazon Swords, Java Moss, Macaranda, various other plants.
Will update more info and photos as the tank matures.

Note: Unlike some other planted tank substrates, the Eco Complete did not mess up the water or cloud it in any way. The water was crystal clear from the outset. No floaties, nothing...

Will you be adding CO2?

Looks very nice so far - makes me want to start another tank with the eco-complete!
I'd love to see more of both of these tanks as they come on...

Filtration is an SunSun HW 303B 1400 lph canister with UVC (9W).
Filter - HW-303B with 9w UVC and surface skimmer attachment on sale for $99.95 (New stock due later this week as they have sold out very quickly).
The filter includes a seperate switch for the UV so it can be operated without the UVC if required (during medication or when cycling a new tank).

Hi Bec,
Its looking good.
Can I ask you how many bags of eco-complete you used? I am currently setting up a 4ft x 20in planted tank and was hoping 4 or 5 bags would do the job. Its hard to tell until you actually put it in the tank, and I usually find I am a bag short. :-)
Cheers,
Shewey.

Shewey: 3 bags, I wouldnt have any less, makes it too hard to keep the plants with big roots down otherwise.
Samir: thanks, and you may now come out of your room :P
Nick: Of course you do lol, mines the taller version! :P
Cheers
