how to clean sand?

Hi guys, i have a question! How do you clean the waste on top of sand? I have got a gravel cleaner pump but the sand just goes up it! :x

If the sand is going up the cylinder of your gravel vack, then the suction is a bit too strong.

See if you can clamp off the hose a bit, to slow the flow, then you can safely vacuum the sand, and it will just swirl around in the clear tube, the gunk will go up the tube and into the hose, but the sand will fall back down.

Sand is much lighter than gravel, so it needs a lot less suction.

Thanks! I will try this tonight! I was thinking of netting thw waste out, I;m sure he sand is smaller that the holes in the net? I dont need to fuss around at the moment as Ive just bought a discus and worried incase I stress her out!

Wonderful! My sand is now clean, well, until Mrs Discus had been blowing on it!
